Is a telehealth appointment right for me?
Video and phone appointments save travel. They suit some visits better than others.
Many specialists and allied health providers offer telehealth by video or phone. It works well for:
- Follow-up appointments and test results
- Mental health sessions
- Medication reviews
- Advice when you live a long way from the rooms
It's less suitable when you need a physical examination, a procedure or tests on the day. The rooms will tell you if your first visit needs to be in person.
Medicare rebates apply to many telehealth appointments, but not all. Ask the rooms before you book. On Spec Book, look for the Telehealth label or tick the Telehealth filter.
