Common questions
Do patients need a referral to book me?
No. Patients can book allied health directly on Spec Book. When a GP refers under a chronic condition management plan or a Mental Health Treatment Plan, the plan comes with the booking so you can process the Medicare rebate.
Can I show NDIS, DVA, WorkCover and health fund options?
Yes. Tick the funding you accept and it shows on your profile and search card. Patients and GPs can filter by it.
How do I report back to the referring GP?
From your Spec Book inbox, open the booking and choose First, Progress or Final report. Fill in the template and it goes to the GP as a secure message. Bookings made outside Spec Book can be marked as reported by letter.
What does it cost?
Listing is free while we launch, with no booking fees and no lock-in.
Does it work with my practice software?
Cliniko connects directly. Other systems work through a calendar link (iCal), or you can set your hours in Spec Book. More direct connections are on the way.
Medicare details are general: up to 5 allied health services a year under a GP chronic condition management plan, and up to 10 individual sessions a year under Better Access (a referral covers up to 6 before a GP review). Check current rules with Services Australia. Questions? [email protected]
